Finally a book from an industry leader that has the guts to write about the real world of Agile software development. If I had to pick one word to describe this book, it would be 'truth'.

There are two primary things you need to be part of an environment that uses Agile processes. The first is enough experience to execute your role's activities in a way that enables agility, and the second is an understanding of the Agile processes. This book can give you the later of the two. I highly recommend this book to teachers and to those who want to start learning about the Agile methods.

The content of this book will help you audit, adjust, and manage your software process.

I highly recommend this book to all those moving towards an agile approach, but especially those moving towards an agile method that includes the product owner role.

This book is exactly what the sub-title "A Practical Guide to Agile Requirements Discovery" says it is. The book is a very detailed breakdown of the steps that should be taken by Scrum teams that want to succeed.

Books like this can give insight into what you are up against before you have to learn the lesson the hard way, by going through it yourself.

I highly recommend this book to every software architect and developer. Even if you don't go all out DDD there is a ton of great advice and wisdom found in this book that will help you improve your skills.

Finally... A Non-fiction Story of Agile Success

Another year has gone by. Merry X-mas and Happy New Year everyone. It is time to update my book recommendation blog.

This book's title Essentials Scrum: A Practical Guide to the Most Popular Agile Process, is a perfect description of what this book is. It covers every essential that you need to know about the scrum process, and the book is written to every role in the scrum process.

If you want a current look into the state of enterprise software deliver at a global level, then this is the book for you.

If you are interested in Acceptance Test-Driven Development, Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Specification by Example, Agile Acceptance Testing, or Story Testing this is a great place to start.

This is one cool book. If you are starting to use Scrum, read it. If you are using Scrum, read it. If you are just wondering what Scrum is all about, read it.

I feel this is the first complete book on what an enterprise level agile process should look like.

The most agile project teams I have seen are those that do not claim to be agile or lean. They have a solid well documented architecture in place as well as designs of the modules being built.

A friend of mine at work pointed this out to me last week. I got the book and cannot figure out why it is soooooo cheap. But it is definitely worth it. The book does a great job of putting a realistic spin on agile.

Low ceremony does not have anything to do with being agile. Agile is an enabled state that is only accomplished through experience. It can be learned, but absolutely not by doing less.
