Great child bible story, well written. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 though because of the way the lion was beat. The seeing of his reflection in the water seemed to me just a reworking of the old crow and the pebble fable.

I loved this child bible story! I really loved how every time the little girl lit a different match a new image would appear. Finally, when she found one she enjoyed over the others she lit the entire batch in order for her grandma to stay! I really enjoyed the ending as well.

I think this is a wonderfully written child story, well constructed and entertaining. The writer sets up a problem, the children set out to solve it, and everyone is satisfied with the resolution. I can just picture it illustrated by Jack Kent.

The begining is not good

Interesting flashback to the stories of Brer Rabbit and trickster heroes. Not bad, but the end was disjointed, as was the title. The child story could have safely concluded with the deposition of Kali and been titled accordingly.

The childrens child bible story The Hare Who Would Not Be King the characters were very interesting. I liked the child bible story but would have made the hero a nice character. The hare was not bad but we do not want to teach our children that a crabby, unhappy character is the hero. The lesson should be that a happy, outgoing character saves the day. The child bible story plot as a whole was very good and the lesson with the correct characters would be great.
