comScore January 2012 Search Engine Rankings

Every month about this time comScore releases the search engine rankings data, and I report it here. These are not the actual search engine rankings that you see when you search at a search engine, which are constantly changing. Think of this more as the “market share” for the search engine industry.

2011

MySpace loses 10 million users in a month

According to the latest comScore figures, MySpace lost 10 million unique users between January and February of this year, going form 73 million to 63 million in a matter of four weeks.

2010

Report Shows Explosive Twitter Growth in Brazil, Indonesia a

comScore has just released a report on Twitter’s explosive growth worldwide. The comScore study found that in June 2010, about 93 million Internet users visited Twitter.com. This is an overall increase of 109 percent over last year.

comScore February 2010 Search Engine Rankings

comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR) , a leader in measuring the digital world, releases its comScore qSearch analysis of the U.S. search marketplace. In February 2010, Americans conducted 14.5 billion core searches, with Google Sites accounting for 65.5 percent search market share.

2009

comScore August 2009 Search Engine Rankings

In August 2009, Americans conducted more than 13.9 billion core searches, with Google accounting for 64.6 percent search market share.

comScore Releases Search Engine Rankings for June 2009

This is the first time that the new Bing search engine is included. It is interesting to see how Bing did after one month.

comScore May 2009 Search Engine Rankings

comScore has released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the United States search marketplace. In May 2009, Americans conducted 14.3 billion core searches. This data does not include the Bing.com launch.

comScore: Mobile Social Networking is Responsible for Growth

A new comScore report out today shows that mobile social networking is responsible for the growth of the mobile internet in Europe. One third of European mobile social networking users access social media sites exclusively.

2008

comScore Releases August 2008 Search Engine Rankings

In August 2008, searchers in the USA conucted 11.7 billion core searches, virtually unchanged from July 2008. Googles web sites extended their lead in the core search market share by 1.1 percentage points.

We Searched for the iPhone 7 Million Times During April 2008

comScore says we searched seven million times for the Apple iPhone during the month of April, 2008. Google had most searches for iPhones.

comScore Releases March 2008 US Search Engine Rankings

comScore has released the search engine data for March 2008. It is interesting that this is a 9 percent increase over February 2008.

ComScore Releases Web Rankings for March 2008, Yellow Book and MLB Top Gainers

comScore has released their monthly internet rankings for March 2008. Among the notable changes this past month is the increased traffic to the Yellow Book Network as well as more traffic to MLB.com.

Top United Kingdom Internet Rankings for January 2008

In January 2008, there was an increase to the travel, career, tax, and real estate web sites. This was mostly due to the people in the UK looking back at the last year and making future plans for 2008.

comScore Reports Heaviest Online Spending Due to Procrastinators

Apparently there’s a flurry of online spending–all by procrastinators and deal-seekers. This is leading to a strong final week of pre-Christmas online shopping. comScore is reporting that online sales are up 25 percent versus a year ago.

Cyber Monday Spending Hits Record $733 Million

Cyber Monday, November 26, 2007 had its unbelievable snafoos, but it ultimately was a success. In fact, comScore is reporting that sales are up 21 percent over last year.

comScore, the company that measures the digital world, has released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis for October 2007. Google’s web sites remained at the top and had more than 6.1 billion searches which represented a 58.5 percent share of the search market.
