As the CE industry moving toward to High Definition, so does the computer industry as well. Since its inception of HDMI Cable providing up to 1080p for Consumer Electronics Devices, now the Computer industry and VESA has launch one of its own HD standard which is Displayport. Smilar to DVI, Displayport does not support audio but it does provide subperb video streaming. Displayport Cables can transmit up of resolution up to 2560×1600 compare with HDMI 1.3 Cables up to 1920×1080. The major difference between the 2 standards are one are loyalty free and the other cost money to obtain licensing for every product which manufacturer produce, so the long run Displayport would have a huge advantage over HDMI and Displayport got some huge backer as well, intel, AMD, dell, Nvidia. In Several years we will see how these 2 interface turns out.
