EUROPE BY DESIGNERS is an international artistic project launched in october 2008 whose aim is to unveil a multitude of images of Europe from the inside and from the outside. Design as the expression of a cultural vision, a political vision or a simple and unposed feeling... Design and its diversity as a new way to catch Europe. INITIAL CALL FOR ENTRIES: Designers, illustrators, photographers, design studios, collectives/crews, agencies... you are all welcome to submit an innovative, creative, exciting, personal and experimental work around the theme: "Europe : what does Europe mean to you?". We are expecting diversity and freestyle : all styles of outstanding visual media are welcome. We have received more than 600 contributions coming from 47 countries. After several weeks of vote, 52 contributors have been selected by the jury.

Michael Paul Young started his career as one of the directors at the progressive firm Vir2l which was world renowned for rethinking web design from 1998-2000. While not working in the commercial industry of graphic design, Michael's online project Designgraphik has been at the forefront of online-interactive art since 1998. In 2001, at only age 23 he was nominated for the highly prestigious Chrysler Design Award, typically reserved for architects. Michael's innovative work online and in video have been exhibited around the world from America to Asia and Australia to Europe. He has gained notable awards (Clio, Cannes Gold Cyber Lion, Art Directors Club) from many festivals and competitions. Michael continues to work daily as an artist, designer, photographer, director, producer and programer.

A few people have been asking me how the LENS Blog on The New York Times site came to be and what software it was built on. I thought I’d shed a little light on the development process and answer some of these questions.

L'art sous toutes ses formes, une philosophie de la vie à travers des images qui en disent plus que les mots ... la rencontre avec Aly-N est un de ces moments qui vous marquent durablement. Une étrangeté, une singularité pourtant si familières se dégagent de ses oeuvres mais nous échappent aussitôt pour réapparaître un peu plus loin. Aly-N est un artiste venu d'ailleurs qui a néanmoins accepté de nous en dire un peu plus sur un art qui échappe comme lui à toutes les étiquettes.
